Travelling - should I get a second battery? (knock-off?)
Jul 8, 2010

I'm going to Europe in a month - for two weeks. I currently have a d3000 that I'll be taking with me, along with the charger and various outlet adapters. I only have 1 battery and am pretty much banking on the charger being able to work without a hitch in all the areas I'm going. From what I understand, it should. If I charge the battery every 2-3 days, I don't think I'd ever risk it running out on me mid-day. We're staying at hotels every night and power shouldn't be a problem.

I am tempted to get a second battery, but have a lot of other things to spend money on, and $100 bucks for a battery isn't appealing - especially since I'm really looking to upgrade my body shortly after this trip. I have seen some knock-off batters on amazon for about 10 bucks, but have no idea how well they work and am not sure if I'd trust them in my camera. Thoughts?
