Do I need a b800 or my head examined?
Ok, so my mother-in-law asked me to take portraits at the family reunion and for some reason I said I would do it. There's 14 siblings in her family and with all the offspring and cousins and what not, I'm looking at about 175 people.
In any case, I got a good deal on a Alien Bee B800 on craigslist and so I bought it in case I thought I would need it. I also have 2 sb800's to bring to the party.
My initial thought was to buy a roll of white seamless and rent the back drop support and shoot the b800 set up high over the camera and light the white seamless with the sb800's. But since I've never done this type of thing before I'm looking for suggestions.
Is my plan basically sound?
I have a small softbox and an umbrella. Is one a better choice than the other for my key light?
How wide would the seamless need to be in order to accommodate groupings as large as 15 or so?
How much booze will I need to get through this?
Any advice you can share with me is greatly appreciated.
