I have a t1i/500D camera. I am considering the purchase of a Canon 15-85 lens. Will this lens block some of the built in flash? I am concerned because I know that some large lenses will cause vignetting across the bottom because that lens blocks some of the flash. Thanks.

Hi Steven

Although I got the 450D, I expect those to be pretty similiar in shape.

On the 450D, the 15-85 lens will cast a shadow on close distance shots when using the built-in flash, at least when the lens is at the 85mm end - couldn't say for sure when using it @15mm, but I expect the same due to the wideangle nature of it...

And yes, the 15-85 will also vignette in all corners in every shot @15mm. I've never been concerned by it and I never found it distracting but it will vignette nevertheless (see the various reviews for details on the amount of vignetting and demo shots).
