E 16mm vs E 18-55mm (Nex)

The 16mm prime looks way worse than the zoom kit (18-55) at 18mm. The colors are flatter, the corners are far worse.

If someone is deciding between 16mm and 18-55, definitely get 18-55 and wait for a better prime in future.

The kit-zoom (wide open) at 18mm (which is F3.5) vs 16mm wide open (F2.8)

Look at the chess board at the bottom left for both lenses. 16mm prime is just pathetic next to the kit lens at 18mm.

Even with both at F5.6, the kit lens still has better corners

If you are unsure, just get the kit lens. Yes it's larger but it's at least better. Forget 16mm. Wait till new better primes are released.
