Then maybe you should keep out of threads that are about macro lenses in their domain - the 100L delivers (as it is shorter) a more life like perspective which allows a sense of size and is sharper at wide apertures than the Sigma, has a better manual focus gearing than the Sigma. I use it nearly on a daily basis for macro photography and have had quite some experience with the Sigma but never did that lens really tempt me into buying it. If I had to go for a long macro lens then I'd choose the Tamron 180mm f/3.5.

I bought the 100L as a mid range general purpose street lens with great IS.

Which IMHO it isn't. It's a macro lens and shines in this kind of application.
