Inaccurate electronic level of the 7D

Hi, everyone. I recently purchased a 7D. I tested it thoroughly to make sure I didn't get a lemon. Anyway, one of the last tests I did was to see if the electronic level is okay. It turns out that it's not.

Attached are pictures of my test. I put the camera on a tripod. The first pic is of a simple no-nonsense spirit level (from B&H) mounted on the hotshoe of the camera as it is meant to be mounted. The second is of the EL showing a tilt to the left. Obviously, one of them is lying, and I side with the spirit level.

I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem with their unit? The owner's manual states that there is 1-degree margin of error but this looks more than 1-degree to me. The EL is plain and simple unreliable.
