5d mark ii Mirror-Lockup Button
Jun 14, 2010

Just upgraded from a 40d (which I still own) to a 5d mark ii (a bit worried about all this banding talk on the forum, but there you go...).

Now, on the 40d it's pretty straightforward to use mirror lockup when needed. I've set a custom function so that the 'Set' button on the Quick Control Dial swings up the mirror. Once I'm done with mirror-less shooting, I press 'Set' again and the mirror swings down and I can take shots normally.

As far as I can tell, there's no such facility on the 5d ii? The best I could find is set one of the Custom User Settings to engage mirror lockup and then select that setting via the Mode Dial. It's not too bad, but not as neat as on the 40d.

Am I missing a trick here?

Cheers for any suggestions,
Walter
