I owned 18-270 with Canon 40D when it just came out and it was disappointing. 1) soft results and 2) slow slow focusing in low light. The results in my case were soft and I already had lowered expectations due to it being a superzoom lens.

Interestingly I also own Tamron 18-250 model and that focuses much better and gives me very good results in most range (other than extreme tele). It is also cheaper and smaller than 18-270. I also own Tamron 28-300 and it also is much sharper lens.
