The best way to clean tripod from sands

Howdy,

I recently went on a trip to a national parks and once I brought my camera and tripod with me to capture sunrise photos. It's a Manfrotto 190XPROB and 488RC4 ballhead. Several times my tripod washed lightly by the wave and sucked into sands. As a result, now there are sands stuck, especially in the leg section locks, so it's quite rough and hard to lock the leg sections.

Any suggestion to clean my tripod? I have tried to wash it with tap water but some of them just stick there. Do you reckon using hair dryer and/or vacuum cleaner would help? Sound silly I know, but maybe someone has tried out there.

There are also few sands in my ball head. Not sure how to get rid of the sands there.

Many thanks in advance.
