What's The Secret To Flowers

Someone please tell me! When I shoot any flower shots I always watch my RGB histogram to make sure I do not clip any of the color channels. But, in the process of doing that I usually have to sink the overall exposure of the shot so underexposed that it seems next to impossible to get it right after the fact in post.

What process do you guys use and what are the basics so that I can pull this off properly?
