This, I would think, is more of a personal conjecture than a fact. There are hundreds of shooters here who benefited by moving to better tripods. I would hesitate thinking all of them were "fooled by big brands".

I agree that the biggies do price their items quite high. But if there were any fair competition from the lesser players, prices would be reduced. The fact that has not happened speaks only for their quality and others' failure to achieve that at lower prices.
