Elinchrom 500BX ri question

I'm thinking about getting several Elinchrom 500BXri's to replace my aging Alien Bees in a working pro studio.

I've heard a few comments that the 500BXri's fan is noisy. Are there any current 500BX owners who can describe the fan noise? Is it unusually loud for a monoflash? Is the noise continuous or does it ramp up and down depending on heat load?

Anybody have both 500BX and Alien Bees units, care to comment on the relative noisiness of the two units compared to each other?
