6 Nikon SB-800/900s, is it enough?
Apr 30, 2010

I'm still quite a beginner in terms of shooting with artificial light.

I now have an opportunity to shoot a model.

Between me and a fellow photographer, the gear we have is a white paper background, and 6 Nikon SB800/900s, with stands, light modifiers and reflectors.

As we want to go for high-key, the idea is to place 4 SBs in the back to evenly burn the background, and use the 2 other ones as main light and highlight, using a reflector to fill some shadows if needed.

I do understand that as a beginner, starting off with 6 lights might be tricky to control, BUT, nevertheless, my question is:

Knowing we'll be using a 5x5m room with white walls, do you thing the SB900 and SB800s will be able to cope?

I'd assume the 4 SBs in the back will be able to create an even pure white background but the fact is I never tried it before.
