How can I keep my HS10 after this comparison?
Apr 28, 2010

I want to keep the HS10 - really. It is the right size and weight in my hand; I like the layout of the camera and after only a few days, I am using the buttons like I've owned it for years. The mechanical zoom is superb in operation - and there's more and more I like about it. But I have been troubled by the poor reports about it's image quality and focussing problems. I've tried to ignore them ...

... this evening I put the same settings on the HS10 and my Canon S3IS. I took the same photo from the same spot within two minutes of each other. A grey early evening with no sudden changes in light. I mounted both on to a small tripod and used the 2-second timer. The results are attached - I won't tell you which is which, I'm sure you can guess.

How can I keep the HS10?
