figured out paper trailing edge streaking problem on Epson 1400.

Hi all,

ok, i posted a thread yesterday about this 1/8" streaking problem on the bottom side leading edge of the paper as it entered the exit rollers of the printer.

It turns out that the problem actually occurs on the bottom side leading edge of the next sheet of paper as it enters the print chamber. The problem occurs when you print borderless.

As the print head sprays ink on the trailing edge of the out going sheet of paper, some of the ink spray gets on the grooved guides that are under the entrance rollers but protrude out a bit from the rollers.

As the next sheet enters the print chamber, the bottom side leading edge of that sheet of paper scrapes along the top of the grooved guides scraping up the ink leaving 1/8" streaks every 1" to 2" 's.

This is a big problem for printing 200 11x17 sheets - both sides!

The only thing i can think of is to insert a 11x8.5 sheet of laser paper between each 11x17 sheet and hope it laser paper scrapes up the excess ink on the guides before the next 11x17 sheet enters the print chamber.

Any other ideas or solutions?
