Everyone should consider having at least one good prime lens

Hi!

Every once in a while (actually, more than that), someone appears on thse forums with a collection of zooms lenses, asking about what zoom to get next.

I would suggest to those people, consider getting yourself a good prime lens.

Why?

1) To experience the weight/size savings.
2) To experience the advantages of having a faster lens.
3) To get used to photograpahic composition by positioning yourself.

4) To experience how very good IQ is possible (usually) for a lot less money than with the corresponding zoom.
5) To experience a lens that is optimized for certain applications.

Which prime to get?
Consider your specific photographic interests:

Macro?
Portrait?
Low light?
Telephoto?
wide angle?
Fisheye?

If you money is tight, cosider a 35 1.8 or 50 1.8
Heck, consider used.

Just a thought.
