Blinking battery light in charger

Hi,

Trying to recharge my battery (VLM01) and find that after a while, instead of turning green, it just blinks on and off red. I even took it out and put it back into the charger, thinking I didn't have it in properly. It stays red for a while then again goes back to blinking.

Do you think it means there's something wrong with the battery? Or maybe it's charging and it doesn't matter? It doesn't do it with other batteries in the same charger so I don't think it's the charger. I've also had that on occasion with the smaller battery for the c770 (different charger, obviously).
