Is the D3000 really the worst DSLR Nikon has ever made --- approx. 10 years...

I'm a relative neophyte and wonder if this is so.

Rockwell made the comment on his website review. (And, this appears to be somewhat backed up by so-so reviews of the d3000 on sites other than this one.)

Is it the slowness of auto focus when certain settings are used (but these can be turned off and were not on, say, the D40)? Is it strange behavior at times when auto-focus is used (this was indicated in a review by another site)? Is it the quality of the pictures, ISO performance or the lack of certain functions?

For example, Rockwell loves the D40 (well, now, prefers the D5000). How is the D40 a better all around camera than the D3000? Or how is the D70 a better camera (not considering the kit lens, body only)?

Is this all subjective and a rather strong statement? Is the D3000 a disappointment. Is it, for example, blown away by the entry level Pentax (price and/or performance)?
