Many consumer 35mm cameras (not SLRs) had a "camera shake warning" light that would blink whenever it determined the shutter speed was too slow for the focal length. The manual recommended that you use a tripod or a flash if this light starts blinking. Handy!

A lot of the consumer 35mm cameras with slow built-in zoom lenses were nice and did a pretty good job at letting people take good photos without reading a thick manual. They fell out of favor when APS and digital cameras came along.
