Voigtlander ultron 40mm or FA 43 ltd?
Apr 8, 2010

Hi,

I am looking for fast "smallish" prime for low light work and to have a better DOF control.

For me it is important that this lens would be fast and produce nice bokeh. It is also important that it is sharp for landscapes. Durability against dust and water would would be huge plus, since I am travelling/working in harsh weather conditions. (At the moment I am working in very dusty Senegal, nice to have DA* 16-50 and 100mm WR with me).

I have been really impressed about the sharpnes of my new 100mm WR macro. My DA*16-50 doesnt look so impressive against it...So it would be nice to have as sharp "normal" prime for walk around lens.

So far I am interested about FA-43 ltd and Voigtlander 40mm. FA-31mm is a bit too pricey and it is quite large. DA*55 would be sensible option but it is a bit long..

  • I am not too worried about AF.

  • Voigtlander is about 200$ cheaper in B&H

I would be very happy to hear your opinions about these 2. Which one would you pick?

And does anyone know how pricey these lenses are in Tokyo? (will be going there in few weeks)

Thanks !!
