Many aftermarket battery brands don't actually manufacture anything, they just buy the batteries (from multiple suppliers), slap their logo on them and sell them in a different country. This means batteries of the same "brand" might come from completely different manufacturers. This would be fine if the final "brand" had any quality control, but most of the time they don't (they just import, repackage and resell), so it's a matter of luck.

Canon and Nikon probably don't manufacture their own batteries, either (I'm sure Nikon doesn't, Canon might), but they do put them through quality control, since bad batteries would affect their reputation.
