Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8 or Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8?
Mar 30, 2010

I currently have a Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 that I use with my D90, but I feel like the focal length range is sort of a no man's land on DX. For portraits, the 80mm is a bit too narrow on the short end while the 200mm isn't really necessary. It really is more of a general telephoto, which is fine, but I already have a 70-300mm VR which (aside from the slower aperture) is an excellent general telephoto for me.

I'm thinking of replacing it with either the Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8 or the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8. It seems like that range would complement the 70-300mm VR better. I've had some experience with both brands and generally prefer Tokina's build quality more and I generally am suspicious of Sigma's quality control. Have people had experience with both? There are a lot of reviews but the two seem very close. How is the bokeh on them? How does it compare to the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 (which is really good)?
