70-200 mm f/4L or 70-200 mm f/4L IS ?

Hi guys,

I am saving up my money to buy a telephoto lens for my Canon 40D in a near future. At the moment, I have EF 17-40 mm f/4L for landscape photography and walk-around lens.

The reason I want to buy 70-200 mm lens is the convenient zooming use for candid shots, portraits and street photography. Therefore it falls between 70-200 mm f/4L or 70-200 mm f/4L IS (regards to my budget).

The IS version is NZ$800 more expensive than the non-IS version (around NZ$1,000 only).

How convenient use for IS version than non IS version? I noticed the filter diameter for both version is 67 mm and it looks fit on my hand.

Does anyone not happy with their 70-200 f/4L and upgraded it to the IS version ?

Thanks heaps guys !
