DPR review of 24-70 module
Mar 17, 2010

Prompted by the low-score conclusion of the DPR review of the 24-70mm GXR:

1. I agree that the 24-70mm GXR by itself is too expensive for what you get. But then who would buy it for just the 24-70? No, the point of the GXR is high IQ APC modules at the key focal lengths with modules like the 24-70mm as "easy to hand" flexibility with the same great interface.

2. But then this makes me want to get the 28mm APC lensor now . Waiting until December for it is one thing, waiting, say, two years for a portrait APC lensor is another. Does Ricoh have the will (and the production capacity) to market new APC lensors quickly enough?

3. Will this low-score conclusion discourage GXR sales in Ricoh's home-market in Japan? Does anyone have insight here?
