Just Announced: Tamron 70-300 zoom lens - Thoughts???

I was just looking at the article on the homepage of DPReview and saw the latest lens just announced from Tamron. What do you all think? It has an USM and Built In Image Stabilization (for Nikon and Canon) and will be available for Sony (initially Nikon only). Will this pretty much be in the same league as the current 70-300 with USM and (VC not for Sony)? Or will this be a step above to compete with the Sony 70-300G?
