Panasonic not allowing third party batteries: can we do something about it?

Does anybody else feel strongly about Panasonic forcing their customers to go with their five to seven times over priced batteries?

It obviously makes some customers, including me, feel taken for a ride, but it can't be the best thing for them either: batteries can hardly make the biggest thing they make money on (not everybody buys spare batteries), and it will cost them customers.

For me if this does not change, my GF1 even though it is a really nice camera, will be the last Panasonic I have purchased.

Any ideas on how to convince them this is really not a good idea? I frankly don't believe the 'third party batteries have more chance to damage your camera' reasoning, but if they really believe so then there should at least be a certificate for 'quality battery partners' or such. Then we might at least be able to buy batteries that are only two to three times over priced.
