Any 7D owner using 17-40mm f4.0 L lens as walk-around lens ?

Dear all, I am new here. Your help please, could you post some pictures you taken with 7D+17-40mm lens? Need to decide between this lens or 17-55mm f2.8.

Between these 2 lens, which from your experience is giving fast focusing and sharp pictures ? Is there advantage being a L lens ?
