Wow, I found LX3 jpegs were terrible - I shoot the LX3 RAW only

LX3 jpegs have too much magenta and green. WB adjust doesn't take care of this as magenta and green are on the same adjustment axis so if you reduce one color you increase the other. The new firmware, v2.1, helped a little, but LX3 RAWs are really nice for a compact sensor, and display no color skewing. Their color values compare well to my Nikon D700 full frame DSLR.

RAW development isn't half as hard or time-consuming as many make it out to be. All you're doing with RAW is the same thing that the processor does at the local photo developer shop when you shot film; optimizing the raw image.

I would have kept the camera and learned RAW. If you're doing anything more than pedestrian snap shots, it's worth shooting RAW.
