Is 12-24mm lens needed for three weeks in Indochina?

I usually take just the D300 body, 16-85mm, 70-300mm VR, and 35mm f/1.8 DX when I travel without a car. (I'll do something or other for real closeups, say to 1:2.5, but I don't yet know what. Too many lovely flowers to miss them. The tripod absolutely stays home.) My question is whether my heavy and bulky Nikkor 12-24mm (adding the range of 12-15mm) will be something I miss if I leave it home. When I had an 18-70mm, I took the 12-24mm everywhere. Now it's not used as much. (Please, Nikon, an affordable, small, light, 13 or 14mm DX lens.)

The trip will include three days in Angkor Wat (37 sq. miles of temples in Cambodia) plus a couple of days somewhere else in Cambodia, nine days in Vietnam, five days in Thailand, and two days in Laos. My favorite subjects here will likely be local people, landscapes, and temples. Most of the time I'm photographing, I will be on foot.
