GF1 vs. 5D Mk2 Head-to-Head test
Feb 27, 2010

I was shooting a few images of the snowy scenes around my neighborhood and decided that I really like this image BUT, I had shot it with the GF1 and 14-140mm. Was it good enough quality?

I wanted to print it, and thought I'd get a better image if I went back and shot with the 5D Mk2 and 24-105 F/4 L.

As I've said on this forum before, the GF1 is a "12 megapixel 5D Mk2". Amazing.

The obvious difference is that with the 5D Mk2 you have 30% more pixels to work with, and the low-light performance of the 5D is about 2-3x better. OK, faster AF, too. Other than that?

Note that the GF1 white balance looks more like the real-life scene.

You decided for yourself! Camera settings are included with the image. Both opened with ACR, "auto". No sharpening or other PP.

100% crops. The 5D image was reduced to 70% so it matches the GF1.
