50mm f/1.8 II

I just ordered my first lens to help my kit lens. I ordered a 50mm f/1.8 II from Adorama and it comes with a Tiffen something or other and a lens cleaning kit. With 2-4 day shipping for $115 USD. I hope that is a fair deal. I looked on eBay and the used ones were creeping up to the $95.00 mark so I figured I might as well buy it new. Any advice from those with more experience? Do's and don'ts with this lens?
