Sigma or Canon 50mm/1.4 prime lens?

From different discussions and comparison in websites I understood that majority of professionals and armatures think Sigma 50mm f1.4 is a sharper lens as compared to Canon 50mm f1.4. But that is mainly in f1.4 -2.8 range. I am interested to know how these two prime lenses perform in smaller aperture (5.6 and above). Which one is better/sharper? Does Sigma produce sharper picture at f11 as compared to Canon 50mm 1.4/1.8 (with Canon 7D body)?
