I was never a fan of DPP with its awkward (or so I thought) interface. But then I checked out some of the videos at this link: http://www.usa.canon.com/content/dpp2/index.html

I particularly found the video on workflow quite useful and now have a greater appreciation for the application having used both Capture One and Camera Raw.

The Checkmark (1,2,3) feature is very useful when sifting through a large number of images. Start the Quick Check tool, assign a number to each image (1 for good, 2 for maybes and 3 for delete); select the #3 images to delete them all at the same time. Select the #1 images for batch process.

Noise reduction, especially chroma is very good, too. It is a little slower than C1 and ACR, but at least I don't have to upgrade my OS and/or Photoshop or purchase additional software to process my 7D images.
