auto rotate

hi there, I have just connected the laptop to my 40d so i can shoot straight to my laptop but want shots to be rotated automaticlay as i shoot portrait.
I have the auto rotate option set on the camera to the screen and camera icon but it only rotates when viewing images on the camera.
Even when i open the file manualy on the computer the image isnt rotated
The only way to batch roate the images is in the microsoft window screen by selecting all the images and then selecting rotate right but that can take time for lots of images..
can anyone help?
