5d Mark 2 failing in 38 degree weather...what to do?
Feb 13, 2010

My 5d Mark ii is 14 months old. Until today I had no problems, taking almost 70,000 shots so far. Today I took it out shooting in Bryce Canyon. The outside temperature was 37 degrees F and it was sunny weather. My camera went crazy. It repeatedly disabled Live View, and if I wanted to use it I had to re enable it about every five minutes. It also kept changing the ISO to 400, and likewise I had to keep changing it back to 100. The most disturbing thing is that it changed my quality mode from RAW to JPG. I have read other posts, including the Luminous Landscape Antarctica results, that suggest that some of these cameras have problems in the cold. Does anybody know if the cameras that do act badly in the cold have something that can be fixed by Canon? Any suggestions?
