lens correction across brands

Are micro four thirds lenses corrected for distortions and CAs only on the same manufacturers cameras, or will corrections be applied regardless of the body? I haven't decided yet between e-p2 (not yet available anyway) and GF1, but I know I'd like the panasonic 20mm and the new olympus 9-18mm (because it's half the weight of panasonic counterpart) whichever I finally choose. However, all m4/3 lenses seem to have unacceptably high inbuilt distortions which make them pretty useless corrected.

Apparently the distortion information is present in the lens firmware, so it could be corrected on all cameras across the system, but if it is not so, then in effect there's no m4/3 system, only Oly m4/3 and Pana m4/3 - the choice of a body will lock you to that manufacturer's lenses. And as I'm really waiting for wide-angle and portrait primes, I don't want to bet who's going to come up with them.
