best travel combo
Feb 8, 2010

hi there,

just curious: what is the best travel combo you can think of?

[kinda important: travelling for me = driving around, walking a lot, lots! of hiking]

i mean... i'd love to have a D3s and the 14-24, the 24-70, the 70-200 and the 200-400...

but: i didn't win the lottery (maybe cause i don't play...) and i don't have a slave who wants to carry around this bulky gear.

here is what i have right now (and i think is the best travel combo for me):

the great nikon D90 and the 18-200 VR. sometimes i also carry around my 50mm 1.8. usually i only go for the 18-200 though.

i also have a GPS device and a remote control for the cam in my small lowe pro cirrus bag.

i'm planning to buy a very small and light tripod. my gorillapod-style tripod doesn't really work, cause my combo is a bit too heavy.

reasons:

not too bulky, good zome range, which i need quite often, no need to change lenses in dusty environments, quality always ok, i think, but sometimes i'd like to go for lower F-stops (which i got the 50mm for).

what do u carry around while u are travelling?

thx for letting me know
