view NX question

I find that view NX is very slow. For example, when I am making one of the quick adjustment and slide the adjustment slider, it takes View NX couple of seconds to refresh the image. Granted I do not have a quad core or even dual core processor. So my question is if I upgraded my computer to the dual core or quad core, will I see a faster performance on view NX or View NX is generally a very slow application?
