nikon 55mm 1.2 - what's the difference in flavors?

and which one is best.

i see several iterations of this lens. what are their respective attributes based on forum experience?

AI? AI-S? S? SC? no designation at all?

i am confused (insofar as lens qualities/"signature" is concerned).

i know what AI vs. AI-S means but what about the glass in these various models?
