Open note to Jezsik, host of soft focus challenge

Definition of a soft focus lens:

Conversely, a soft focus lens does not focus all of the light rays at the same point. Rather, with a soft focus lens, the rays are focused at different points depending on where the light strikes the lens. This is called spherical aberration. In most lenses, spherical aberration is an undesirable trait as it causes the lens to be less sharp. On the other hand, in a soft focus lens, spherical aberration is desired as it softens the image.

Soft focus = mild blur ...

Respectfully,

Jim
