Best Noise Reduction Software
Jan 26, 2010

It must be a Photoshop plug-in. Being a Lightroom plug-in is a big bonus.

I own noise Ninja. It's reasonably fast and it works but not as well as I'd like. My version is a PS pllug-in limited to 8-bit images.

I've been testing Topaz DeNoise. It's very slow but the results are excellent every time. It works for 16-bit images and can be used as a Lightroom plug-in (external editor via Fusion).

I've tried Dfine 2.0 by Nik as well. It's fairly fast, a LR plug-in and very easy to use. The results are on par with Noise Ninja but not quite as good as Topaz. Where Define really stands out is for quickly processing MANY sports shots to get them posted. I can get my PP done in half the time compared to Topaz Denoise.

I'm willing to spend $100, so Topaz, Define or a Noise Ninja upgrade would all work.

I'm about 85% sold on Topaz. The results are worth waiting for. Anything else I should be looking at?
