F100fd image quality compared to a F40fd or F200exr
Jan 25, 2010

I friend of mine has a F100fd he isn't using and asked me if I wanted it (for a price of course). I probably don't NEED it since I have a F40fd, but it does have a bit more range which would be nice. I've shot with a F200exr and frankly, coming from a F31 then a F40fd, I didn't love the F200. Compared to my aging F40, the sunny day outdoor images lacked the same crispness and dimension. They just seemed a little flat and not as sharp. I don't know if the 28-140 lens isn't as sharp, if the EXR sensor or processor is just geared differently, or a combination of all. Does the F100 have similar IQ characterists to the new F200 or the older F-series. Am I better off sticking with what I have?

Side question: do all the old 3x F-series share the same lens? Just curious.
