Fan boys, Why is Canon numero uno?

I posted this on the rebel forum and someone suggested I should also post it here

I didn't research deep enough but it seems Canon has had always been number one since the dawn of DSLR. (I mean Digital SLR, Okay?) Why has this been so?

Is it the price?

Is it the system's lenses that's well spread from the cheapo to the ill affordable?
Is it the intuitive/user friendly design?
Is it the marketing? (More MPs is good for you )
Is it the support?
Is it a combination of the factors above?
Is it a combination of other factors not mentioned above?
What is that makes Canon click?
