layers arrangement using Nik tools?

I usually have adjustment layers for curves and saturation - just wondering how you guys arrange your layers for Nik tools. I'd like to have the adjustment layers for curves and saturation first, with the Nik layers on top, but I can't figure out a way to allow those adjustment layers to still affect the Nik layers on top - any way to do this? I have made the Nik layers "smart layers", but what I'd really like is if they would act like "smart adjustment layers". How do you guys order your layers? Thanks
