Difference between "Fine" & "Normal" (vs. RAW)
Dec 31, 2009

I'm trying to start shooting in RAW (finally) with my 350D. I was looking in my manual about the image-recording quality types, and I'm wondering about the difference between "Fine" and "Normal" ---

My manual says that "Normal" means that the images are collected with a higher compression so that more can be stored on a card, and "Fine" is a lower compression & better image quality. I'm wondering if there is any difference in the amount of in-camera processing done to the images if taken in "Normal" vs. "Fine." Or is it the same?

Thanks in advance.
