ARW to DNG - Adavantage?

Recently upgraded from my KM7D to the a700 and I have been using LR since its inception (using latest v2.6) the colors were less than desirable so I downloaded LR3 Beta and find it better but the skin tones too red.
Has anyone else experienced this?
What I was wondering is if I convert the ARW file to a DNG would there be any adavantage or is the data exactly the same?
