If that's an OOC JPG, then adjust the sharpening in the Picture Style you use. Otherwise, apply some post shot sharpening. It appears it's sharp enough, but you're dealing with a larger format image from a different sensor, so what you're used to on the 40D will not necessarily apply.

With controlled testing, you can determine if the lens is front/back focusing, and apply macro focus adjustments for the lens in question.
