lx-3 questions

I just got an lx-3 (i gifted it to my step-dad a year ago, but he has barely used it)

One of the big reasons I sold my lx-2 was the annoying lens cap. Have any of you tried the ebay LC-1 knock-offs for the LX3? Do they vignette? How well do they work? Would I be better off crafting a solution from the Ricoh cap?

Also, are the fw upgrades worth the hassle?

Finally, are there neutral LR/DNG profiles around for these cams? The greens and reds in my LX-2 always needed tweeking and from what I've seen of my stepdad's pics, the LX-3 is the same way. I found this profile online, but haven't yet had a chance to use it.
