Rented 135L for a wedding, how does the 85 1.8 compare?

I just rented the 135L to do a wedding. After the wedding, I shot some portraits with the 135 which were stunning shot wide open. Problem was, I hated being that far away from the subject when doing full body. I would buy the 135 in a second if it weren't for that. I know, I know, 85L. But that is a lot of $$$$ right now that I don't wanna drop. Would I be happy with the 85 1.8? I only have L lenses right now except for my 50 1.4 which ain't so good. What should I do, save up for the 85L, stand back with the 135L or jst go ahead and get the 85 1.8. I am worried about colors, sharpness, I know everything a photog worries about. I doubt I would ever shoot below f/2. The shots with the 135 at f/2 were simply stunning.
