Telephoto lens for indoor volleyball - K100D?
Dec 8, 2009

I use a Pentax K100D. Looking for a telephoto lens to take indoor volleyball pics (low, crappy light, fast action, no flash). I was thinking of either the Tamron SP AF 70-200mm F2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro or the Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM II. I've read that the Tamron has better picture quality than the Sigma, but it has a slower, noisy focusing system, which might miss some pics when shooting indoor sports. Does anyone have expert knowledge of these two lenses? Or, is there an even better option out there? Does Pentax have something? I only found the smc Pentax DA STAR 50-135mm F2.8 ED (IF) SDM, but haven't seen anything from them up to 200mm, nor have I read any reviews about this one, yet. Would love to read your expert opinions.

TIA,
